Story

Day 27 (Night)

The final seven return to camp having just blindsided Clarity from the game, with the three remaining Kucha members feeling overjoyed now that they've managed to gain the upper hand over the rival Ogakor members. Both Farrell and Ned, having been blindsided themselves, not expecting anyone from their alliance to flip, decide to question both Ned and Curt on their move.

Quote1So, uh... Why guys?Quote2- Farrell
Quote1Its part of the game... I knew if I waited around with you until the final five I'd be in a poor position... So I made the move now.Quote2- Victor
Quote1Ok... I don't see how this helps your game... Now we know you're a rat, and that you're with three people who wont keep you around either.Quote2- Farrell
Quote1No I don't think that's true. I've spoken with those guys and I feel much better going into the final five with them...Quote2- Victor
Quote1Curt, why'd you do it?Quote2- Farrell
Quote1Why? Let me just list the countless things you guys did to push me to this point. None of you listened to me when I said to get Alia out next... None of you! You wanted me to follow YOU in votes! After all I had done to assert myself as your leader. Then Clarity had the audacity to try and belittle me by acting as if she had power? Well last night showed who really held the staff around here, and it certainly wasn't her.Quote2- Curt
Last night things went pretty sour for myself and Ned. Curt and Victor jumped ship and ruined their own games... My hope is that they do see sense and come back to join us at the next tribal council... They cant win against Carlson, Alia or Reniero...

–Farrell

Quote1What makes me laugh is that before tribal council, you were coming to me saying that we should vote Curt out...Quote2- Ned
Quote1Who said that!?Quote2- Curt
Quote1Victor...Quote2- Ned
Quote1No... No I never said that (laughs nervously)Quote2- Victor
Quote1Why would he say that if he and I decided to go after Clarity!?Quote2- Curt
Quote1Maybe because I said no... Because I wanted to be loyal to you Curt... But you're too idiotic to realize that.Quote2- Ned
Ned called me out in front of everyone... I felt there and then my game was over and that I'd be going home, but thankfully Curt didn't believe him. Ned's loyalty to the group was his downfall and it would have been mine too... He seems bitter that he had the opportunity to get on the right side, and that he failed to do so... As Ned was more aware of my plans in the game... He could do more damage to me in the future...

–Victor

An argument breaks out between the four ex-Ogakor members, whilst the ex-Kucha members sit and watch, pleased to see their rivals falling apart before their eyes. Reniero decides to try to sleep, leaving Carlson and Alia alone to enjoy the show.

Hearing them argue was music to my ears. It confirmed that we've destroyed them as a group, and that we really do hold all the power in this game. I know that in terms of numbers they do hold the power, but I don't believe for a second that they will be regrouping anytime soon... Reniero seems to be with us, but he still lacks much support from outsiders... and he has little to no strategic game going on. I can confidently say that either myself of Alia will be winning this game...

–Carlson

Day 28

The entire tribe lay around camp, having run out of rice the previous evening, leaving them without any food. Alia wipes tears from her face, stating that she's never felt so ill in her life, feeling as though her body wont last out until day 39. Carlson attempts to comfort her, trying to take his mind off his own hunger and fatigue.

Quote1I don't know how much longer I'll hold out though...Quote2- Alia
Quote1We'll be fine... As long as we keep drinking water...Quote2- Carlson
Quote1I just feel like I'm going to throw up each time I take a sip...Quote2- Alia
Looking around camp... It feels as though we're all on deaths door. The guys who love to work are just lying flat on the ground, trying to shield themselves from the sun... Reniero was lying by me and I could just see his ribs sticking out... It just shows me how little we've been eating out here. These last few days I think I've hand a handful of rice through the low rations, and now that we've run out I just cant stop myself from crying...

–Alia

Quote1C'mon... last girl standing cant just give up out here.Quote2- Carlson
Quote1I'm not giving up... I just don't know if I'll make it... (she pauses then laughs) its a complete sausage fest here...Quote2- Alia

Victor heads down to the river, hoping to catch some fish, whilst cooling himself off in the water. After waiting an hour, Victor accepts the fact he'll head back empty handed, worried as to how the tribe will be able to function without rice.

This game isn't fun anymore. I'm around people who either hate me or just want to play strategically. I miss the days of Ogakor where I'd laugh with Laurencia and Johna... I miss sitting in the water washing our hair, talking about our families... I don't have that connection with anyone else... I haven't really been close to anyone for two weeks now... I'm covered in bites and dirt... My hair is thinning out... We all look unclean... I mean Curt's beard is making him look like some sort of mountain man... He's someone who arrived with neat hair and a clean face... We're unrecognizable from who we once were... I hope that's only in a physical sense and not personality wise... I don't want this game to change who I was... Because if anything it'll change you for the worse.

–Victor

Ned, Farrell and Curt lie together by the fire, which hasn't been lit all morning, as the tribe have nothing to cook. Farrell attempts to talk Curt back into joining them, but Curt seems to have little to no interest in joining his old tribe members again. Curt tells the two that he'll only accept what they have to say after Ned apologizes for calling him an idiot, leaving Ned and Farrell speechless.

Quote1Is he serious?Quote2- Ned
Quote1Just do it... We don't have much of a choice...Quote2- Farrell
Quote1He is the craziest person I have ever met. He is horrible... he is just disgusting... he's so freakin' deluded its embarrassing! I'm sorry Farrell but there's no way I'm saying sorry to him. What we'll have to do is talk to Kucha and get them to vote him or Vic out of here... It's the only way.Quote2- Ned
Thirty days out here and I've reached breaking point. I'm not going to sit around and take s**t off Curt anymore... Living with him has to be the worst punishment anyone could get... America should just scrap the death penalty and sentence killers and terrorists to live with Curt for this amount of time because it will send them loopy. I'm going to approach Reniero, Alia and Carlson in time... and I'll try to see if they want to help me vote out Victor, he's the biggest threat of the four remaining Ogakor members... and if they're smart he'll be the next one to go.

–Ned

I think Ned needs to just say sorry to Curt... He doesn't need to mean it.. But for our sakes he needs to suck it up and just say one word. If not then he or I will be the next to go because neither Victor or Curt seem interested in helping out either of us... They'd rather just hand the other three the money.

–Farrell

The tribe spend the rest of the day doing very little, complaining amongst themselves at the lack of food, feeling as though they wont be able to make it any longer unless they find a replacement for the rice.

Day 29

The final seven receive tree mail informing them that they will be facing a very special reward challenge, with each tribe member receiving an envelope containing 500 Australian Dollars. As the group arrive at the reward, Jeff informs them that they will be taking part in a food auction, which is met by the screams and cheers of all the Barramundi members, feeling ecstatic now that they've been given the opportunity to eat.

Quote1Our first item is something a little different. I've been informed that as a tribe you've run out of your rice supply, that should have lasted you up until day 39. However, we're not going to leave you without anything for the next ten days... So as some of you may have guessed, your first item is this... (Jeff lifts up a large sack) a bag of rice, that would be enough to last eight people around twenty days if rationed correctly... So its more then enough for you guys. As the most valuable item in this auction it will be something that I cant let you bid on... Its something you must outright buy.Quote2- Jeff Probst
Quote1I'll buy it...Quote2- Reniero
Quote1Before anyone tries to buy this, I must inform you that the bag is going for $1500 Australian Dollars. So three members must sacrifice their money right now in order to buy rice for the whole tribe...Quote2- Jeff Probst
Quote1Once again, I'll do it...Quote2- Reniero
Quote1Wait, wait... Should we talk about this?Quote2- Alia
Quote1No talking about it... We need this... (places his money down)Quote2- Victor
Quote1That's $1000...Quote2- Jeff Probst
Quote1(sighs and places his money down)Quote2- Carlson
Quote1Carlson, Reniero and Victor... Giving up their money to buy rice for the whole tribe. Enjoy it.Quote2- Jeff Probst

The three members are applauded by their tribe mates, before the first item is brought out for bidding. Carlson, Reniero and Victor sit silently during the auction, feeling some regret after viewing all the items up for bid. Alia, Curt, Farrell and Ned enjoy the array of food and drinks brought out for them, trying not to rub it in the faces of the other three members. After the auction, the tribe head back for camp, with Reniero carrying the rice on his shoulders, smiling at the prospect of being able to eat a good sized meal.

The tribe return to camp, all with their spirits high having filled their stomachs, with the exception of Curt, who is angered at buying a glass of dirty river water. Farrell, Ned and Alia thank the three who gave up their money once again, allowing them to cook up some rice for themselves.

The boys had given up their money in order to feed the whole tribe, which was really sweet of them. We basically said to them "cook for yourselves"... they hadn't eaten, we had... It seemed only fair that they should have something.

–Alia

I don't feel bad at not giving up any money to buy the tribe rice. I'm likely going home soon so I thought... Might as well treat myself... (laughs) ... I commend the guys for what they did... But no, I don't feel bad for not throwing my money down for the "good of the tribe".

–Ned

Quote1You took the risk to buy the covered item! You chose to bid on the rest!Quote2- Ned
In the auction I seemed to end up with the worst items. So I justifiably said I was going to have a little bit or rice just to fill me up... But no... Apparently I was committing some sort of crime because Ned jumped right at me and wouldn't let it go! He needs to realize he's in a bad spot and I'll happily send him out of here!

–Curt

Quote1Well Alia gave me some of her turkey dinner... So I wont have anything... Curt can have mine if he wants...Quote2- Carlson
Quote1No, it shouldn't work that way. If Curt gets to eat then maybe we all should... But its this kind of thinking that got us into the mess to begin with.Quote2- Ned
Today at the challenge Alia was nice enough to give me some of her food to share... I would have done the same so it didn't shock me, but its still something I'll remember out here... That she did look out for me, just like I have done for her. When we got back Ned and Curt argued over the rice situation... I agreed with Ned but took Curt's side just to make sure he thinks that I'm with him in this game... I don't want the loose cannon rolling away from me... I want him by my side... I want to fire him at the others... The only time in this game I wont stick up for Curt is when its his time to go...

–Carlson

The rice argument continues, with Ned eventually walking away with Farrell by his side. Curt gets his way, sitting down to eat a portion of rice with Reniero and Victor. Alia and Carlson sit quietly, trying to keep on good terms with Curt, knowing that his antics make him unstable, and that they'd prefer to keep on his good side until his vote is no longer of use to them. Ned calms down, stating that he cant hide his anger towards Curt any longer, and that after the reward challenge he will see to it that either he or Victor are the next to go home. Farrell however remains disappointed, worried that Ned's sudden mood change will mean their demise is set in stone.

I originally hoped that we could get Curt and Victor back on side... We could have raised the argument that Kucha should go down another member so they don't gain any numbers advantage... But Ned's made it so that this cant happen... We now need to wait around until tomorrow before targeting one of our own. It's not the situation I want to be in, nor is it the situation I feel is best for my game... But its the one that I'm in, and I have to work with that.

–Farrell

Day 30

The group receives tree mail informing them that they will be facing their next individual immunity challenge. With no one having any single targets in mind, there is less need to worry about an individual winning. However, most members wish to win in order to make their game look more impressive, knowing that a jury will respect them if they are able to win individual challenges.

If I don't win today I'll be slightly worried... I feel as though my strategic and social game is going well... Physically I have very little to show... Reniero and Victor seem to dominate the challenges which worries me, I don't want them getting to the end because I don't think it would be as easy to beat them... Even though technically I should...

–Carlson

After having the spat with Ned where he called me out I do feel somewhat at risk... I wouldn't be shocked to receive votes at tribal council, so I feel its in my best interest to win today, just to guarantee there's no chance I could be blindsided...

–Victor

Challenge: Fire and Water
Castaways will have a very high seesaw-contraption with two small drums, one on each side (the first side has a small hole at the bottom, while the their drum was hollowed in the middle). They must create a large fire in the hollowed drum, while filling the other drum with water (the logic is to keep the fire going while filling the water can to rise the fire can). The first person to ignite the fuse on top of their seesaw wins.

The group return to camp, trying to shield themselves for the rain storm which has formed overhead. The group congratulate Reniero, who has gone on to win his fourth straight immunity challenge. Alia, Carlson, Victor, Curt and Reniero climb into the shelter, with Ned and Farrell lurking outside, quickly trying to work out who they should target.

Four straight immunities feels impressive. I don't think my record will ever be beaten which is something I can take away from this (laughs)... I do feel as though I can continue to lay low until the time comes where I lose the safety... So for now I'll continue to listen to the others... Waiting and observing...

–Reniero

Quote1So do you guys want to pick which of them we vote for? That is if you're still cool with us...Quote2- Carlson
Quote1You want us to pick?Quote2- Curt
Quote1Yeah, I mean... You know them better then anyone Curt so I don't see why you shouldn't decide who goes home.Quote2- Carlson
Carlson is really brown nosing Curt... Feeding his ego. He's an extremely smart kid and it worries me that he can just control someone like that... Alia, Reniero and Curt are following him... Without actually knowing they're following him. It makes me think that maybe I should return home to Ogakor, and that maybe I should try to get one of them out... The problem is Ned and Farrell might not trust me anymore.

–Victor

The group who seem to be in control right now sat in the shelter together... We discussed who needs to go home... I tried to groom Curt into feeling as though he had the power, because we know that one reason he flipped was he felt powerless with his old alliance... When you know someone's weaknesses it becomes easier to control them... We have a smart group... Which makes things harder because I know I cant control these peoples minds... So I just have to... give them what they want.

–Carlson

Quote1So who's it gonna be?Quote2- Ned
Quote1I'd say Victor...Quote2- Farrell
Quote1Why him?Quote2- Ned
Quote1They know Curt isn't winning this... They're not sending him home. Victor almost won today, he's a social threat too... Its our best bet now.Quote2- Farrell
Myself and Farrell decided that it would be best if we targeted Victor tonight. Victor has shown himself to be a threat in this game, and he's someone that the old Kucha members would probably consider voting out, because they might lose to him at the end of this... Especially if he's able to go to the end with Curt sitting by his side.

–Ned

As the rain dies down, Ned and Farrell manage to speak with the old Kucha members, trying to get them to turn on Victor, who unbeknownst to them is considering voting out Carlson. Ned and Alia speak, with Ned listing reasons as to why they should vote out Victor. Farrell does the same with Carlson, claiming that the three Kucha members will guarantee themselves a win if they remove Victor from the game. After finishing their conversation, Alia goes back to Victor, informing him of Ned and Farrell campaigning against him.

Victor is someone who I feel a connection with in this game... I don't want to turn on him (laughs). I don't want to feel like the rat running around selling people out, but I feel in this case I needed to in order to protect my ally. Its not being a rat by selling out Ned, because I'm not aligned with him.

–Alia

I was on my way to speak with Ned and Farrell when I bumped into Alia, who informed me that they were trying to get me voted out. I think Alia is a credible source, so I have no doubt that they were gunning for me. I don't feel angry about this because they're just trying to survive... Maybe its a compliment that they want me out over Curt, who people seem to see as the least likely to win at this point. I still want to talk with my old tribe members... because the Kucha alliance is becoming a major force... But now that I know they have their minds made up... It might be best to stick with the original plan.

–Victor

At tribal council the group are met by deathly glares from Clarity, who seems angered at her recent departure from the game. Curt stares her down, while Victor avoids all eye contact. The group discuss the change in the game following the previous tribal council, with Ned stating that Curt and Victor had flipped on the group, showing themselves to be untrustworthy individuals, before going on to state that Victor is doing a good job at working his way into the game, having overcome a minority position "twice". Victor tries to claim that the reason he flipped was because he felt at the bottom of the Ogakor alliance, and that it was just part of the game. The tribe discuss the situation with the new rice, with Curt once again raising his voice over being called out for eating despite taking part in the auction. When asked if they think the tribal will bring about new change, Farrell and Ned state that they "hope so", as the old Kucha have a good chance at making things "very easy" for themselves, by voting out Victor, who has shown himself to be the master of gaining the upper hand. As the votes are revealed, Ned and Farrell are left alone in voting for Victor, whilst the larger alliance chose to stick together, sending Ned home in a 5-2 vote, deeming him to be a bigger threat then Farrell, due to having more friends on the jury and in the tribe as a whole.

Voting Confessionals

Really nice guy. I wish you all the best.

–Alia

It has to be you tonight. You have a good social game, and if anyone's going to fly under the radar to the end... It's you.

–Carlson

You wanted to attack me over these last few days, and that's your downfall. You don't do that stuff when you're the one in need. No one to blame but yourself.

–Curt

If you last longer in this game I can see you making it to the end... I don't particularly want you to win, but if you get there I'll be voting for you..

–Farrell

You and I had an odd relationship throughout this game. I don't feel as though we'll be friends after this experience... But you work hard, and I admire you for that.

–Ned

Not someone I really spoke to, but when we did you seemed like a good guy... Just didn't exactly... Try hard enough.

–Reniero

I'd have happily come back to help you tonight, but you came after me and put me in a position where I couldn't do anything but follow the others. All the best.

–Victor

Final Words

I've loved this experience from the start till the end. I've never put myself through anything quite like this, and I'm glad I did... Take away the rain, sleep deprivation and the hunger, Curt... and this was a brilliant experience. I learnt a lot about myself and how I can run, and hopefully I can translate this information and new skills to whatever I'm doing after this. Met some good people... and may the best man or woman win.
