No Strategy Allowed is the second episode of Survivor: The Australian Outback.
Day 3 (Night)
The Kucha tribe returns to camp having just voted out the first member of the game. The tribe lay their torches down by the tribe flag, before all going to sit by the fire. Rose slightly winces as she sits, clearly still in pain after her allergic reaction. Alia gently rubs Rose's hand, making sure she is ok, while Neil tends to the fire.
- Good job tonight guys. Unanimous decisions are always good.- Cindra
- I agree somewhat. In this situation Mitchell was causing problems so we had to come together to do this. However, I hope we can all vote on our own in future. Trust me guys, it's much better for the tribe overall.- Neil
- I completely agree.- Reniero
|“||Tribal tonight was excellent. Everything went how it was suppose to... I do think I should take some pride in this as it was my doing. In future I'll make sure votes go my way too, and Neil will unconsciously be joining me in these votes.||”|
The group begin packing up for the evening, with Rose thanking the tribe for keeping her despite her physical limitations. She assures the tribe that she is feeling much better, and that her performance in the next challenge will prove her worth.
|“||I feel as a tribe we're still quite messy. The vote was unanimous but that doesn't mean we're a solid tribe. Right now there are splits and cracks all over us, caused by contrasting personalities and, well... Neil... Then on top of this we have Rose, who despite her claims of recovery is still looking fragile. Some would say this means taking control of the situation would be easier, but at the end of the day going forward with this tribe is going to be dangerous, even if I was the one running it.||”|
The tribe awaken to Cindra cutting wood, preparing a fire to boil the tribe's breakfast. Despite trying to be helpful, Neil becomes annoyed by this, stating that he is the one who gets the fire ready, and that if Cindra had asked he would have shown her where he kept the wood, as he had prepared some the previous day. The two slightly bicker, before Reniero defuses the situation.
|“||You try to do something nice around here at it's like I've committed the cardinal sin. Neil is so up and down its hard to know how he'll react to anything. He's unstable!||”|
|“||Every morning so far I've been helping with the fire! I cut the wood the night before so we don't wake up to someone chopping! It's infuriating to have her be so disobedient... She's like a dumb dog that needs to be put outside in the rain to learn it's lesson!||”|
The rest of the tribe exit the shelter, sitting round to eat breakfast. Alia looks over to Cindra and smiles, before thanking her for making the rice. Cindra smiles back to Alia, but seems hurt after Neil's comments.
|“||I feel bad for Cindra. She tried to help and got seriously shut down by Neil... Yes what she does is annoying but he treats her like dirt. It was nice to see Alia thank her for the food... I mean I wasn't going to... I'm keeping Neil on side with me (laughs)||”|
While sitting down to eat breakfast, Carlson sits below Chelsie, who massages his scalp while they eat. Alia notices this but says nothing, continuing to eat her rice. Rose eats her rice slowly, stating that she's not entirely hungry, before admitting that she feels as though she could be sick. Alia offers to take Rose down to the river bed in order to cool her down, hoping that the water will sooth her burnt skin.
|“||Back at camp Chelsie was, uh, rubbing Carlson's head. It wasn't like a quick thing. It went on for quite some time and it was slow... Chelsie knows she's an attractive girl who can use her looks to get her things, and Carlson seems to be vulnerable around her. Chelsie is going to cause problems for me if she causes Carlson, my number one ally, to place her above me. I don't know what to do right now, maybe I should gather the misfits to vote her out. But actually no, I cant do that... If you suggest voting around here you seem to be the one to go. (she sighs and shakes her head)||”|
Cindra joins Alia and Rose down by the riverbed, thanking them both for being "good people". Rose bursts into tears after Cindra asks how she is feeling, causing Alia to try and comfort her.
- I... I really cant take this pain (continues crying)- Rose
- Oh honey! Don't cry. It'll get better.- Cindra
- Yeah when I'm out of the sun... I...- Rose
- Maybe you should just stay in the shelter? Until it all clears up?- Alia
- I cant... It'll be too obvious then.- Rose
- What'll be too obvious?- Alia
- That I should go next...- Rose
- Well we wont vote you out! Will we Alia?- Cindra
- Uh... No... No we wont.- Alia
|“||It was a very awkward experience down by the river bed. I felt like I was in a badly made movie with strange dialogue, but that's apparently just how Cindra talks. I decided to take the opportunity to see if I could collect two votes for future tribals...||”|
- Did you guys see Chelsie back by the fire?- Alia
- What do you mean see her?- Cindra
- Like, rubbing Carlson. It's kinda weird right?- Alia
- Maybe she likes him?- Rose
- Don't be silly. It's day four, not four-hundred. She's using him.- Alia
- For strategy?- Rose
- (nodding) Absolutely.- Alia
- Should we tell Neil?- Cindra
- No, lets keep this between us. Neil isn't our boss. But I'm just saying, that could be really dangerous if it gets going.- Alia
|“||I dropped the hint to the girls what I felt needed to be done. Chelsie is dangerous for my game. I'd much rather go forward with Rose and Cindra then Chelsie. Plus Rose and Cindra willingly listen and pick up things... despite their faults they can be very receptive.||”|
|“||I had a chat with Alia and Rose down by the riverbed today. We did talk a bit of strategy haha! But don't tell Neil! Shhhh! (puts finger over lips before laughing) She made it very clear what we need to do... We need to vote out the weak member of the tribe who is potentially forming a 'love alliance'... Carlson.||”|
The Ogakor tribe awaken after sleeping better having revamped Curt's shelter, despite his objections. Farrell sits alone by the river, looking out at the water as the sun rises. He looks unwell, and has a small stick in his hand, which he occasionally places in his mouth. Laurencia, walks over to Farrell, with her buff over her head, having just woken up herself. She sits next to Farrell, and looks out at the water with him.
- What's up sweetie?- Laurencia
- I'm uh, feeling pretty c**p this morning.- Farrell
- You got sick?- Laurencia
- No, it's uh... I gave up smoking two days before I came out here. So right now I'm like... desperate.- Farrell
- Is that it!? (lightly taps Farrell's hand) I thought you were ill or something! You had me nervous thinking our strongest member was going down! (laughs) Listen, take it from me. My husband gave up smoking after I popped out our third... He was like you for a while, got tired, felt a bit rubbish for a while. But you know something, he got over it. It's been ten years now, he never looked back. He lost weight, he looks better. You're in a worse off place because Jorge had pencils to put in his mouth not dirty sticks (laughs) But seriously, you'll be fine, keep busy and you'll get over it, ok? Now c'mon, lots to do today, and we need you around to keep us in line.- Laurencia
Farrell smiles before leaning over to hug Laurencia, she then stands and walks him back to the fire where they prepare breakfast along with Victor, who has began placing wood on the flames.
|“||Laurencia has taken on the mother role in the tribe and... she's doing one hell of a job. She seems to have a speech for every situation... it's helping us all get through these tough days. I uh, I lost my mother when I was sixteen and Laurencia's warmth and empathy just reminds me of her... So to just have Laurencia around makes me feel as though... I'm closer to family... (he wipes tears from his face)||”|
Johna and Georgia are the last two to get out of the shelter for breakfast, with Curt whispering to Ned that it's "no surprise" to see the women lying in. Ned gives off a slight smile at this, but looks uncomfortable after Curt's sexist behavior. Georgia begins to moan about rice, stating that it's bland and boring. Georgia then goes on to list all the foods that she missed, which greatly annoys her tribe members.
|“||Georgia isn't a bad person particularly. But she's a bad person to have present on the tribe. She does little around camp, she doesn't add much in morale... I feel horrible just saying this but she sticks out as the weak link. When it comes to voting I have no doubt that it'll be Georgia heading home first for Ogakor.||”|
|“||We sittin' out here starvin'. Lord knows I love my food and lord knows I need it. But in this case we got rice, but this girl be goin' on about pasta, salads, cereals. Like please shut your mouth! You're making my stomach scream!||”|
Ogakor get to work around their camp, with each member helping out in their own way, with the exception of Georgia, who still seems to lack any use to the tribe. Johna and Laurencia wash the tribes clothes, and clean up around the camp, making sure it's as hygienic as possible. Victor goes off alone to fish once again, this time managing to catch two small fish, as opposed to the single one he caught on day two. Farrell, Curt, Ned and Clarity go off to collect supplies for the camp in the surrounding area, the more physically demanding task. While out, Clarity takes the opportunity to solidify the four of them.
- Funny how any time there's a tough job that needs doing we're the four who end up taking on the task.- Clarity
- I was thinking this earlier, guess the strong stick together.- Ned
- I think we're generally a good mix. We have people back at camp who do things that I'd be useless at doing...- Farrell
- Lets not try and be kind. The four back at camp are useless in their own ways... I mean it doesn't take a genius or an athlete to wash clothes.- Curt
- Then why don't you wash your own clothes?- Farrell
- Because I'm out here doing this!- Curt
- Anyway... My point was when the s**t hits the fan and we're heading to tribal, whenever that is... I'd be an idiot to write any of your names down.- Clarity
- Definitely agree with that. It's got to be one of them going before any of us.- Ned
|“||Might have just set up the strong man AND woman alliance on Ogakor. Feeling good about the four of us working together.||”|
|“||Farrell really gets on my nerves at times. He wants to be the leader yet doesn't have the guts to speak the truth. He's too soft and is generally a wet blanket. By chance I end up in this strong man's alliance plus Clarity... Which I feel pretty good about. But in the long run Farrell has to go before his weakness drags us all down with him.||”|
The Survivors must jump from a 35-foot granite cliff into a deep natural pool and swim to a floating crate anchored in the river. Once each member of the tribe reaches the crate, they must dive down and detach it from the anchor. The tribe must then maneuver the crate down the river through small rapids, and carry it onto a sandy beach. The first tribe to get the crate and all tribe members across the finish line wins.
|Reward Challenge: Butch Cassidy|
Clarity, Curt, Farrell, Georgia, Johna, Ned, Victor
Alia, Carlson, Chelsie, Cindra, Neil, Reniero, Rose
The Kucha tribe continue their daily routine, with Neil tending to the fire and cooking breakfast, while Cindra sits on and observes. Clarity and Carlson continue to flirt, much to the annoyance of Alia, who see's the situation as fake and embarrassing. Reniero gets water for Rose, who has opted to stay in the shelter out of the sun, with her condition single handedly causing their loss at the reward challenge the previous day. Neil and Reneiro then walk off in order to collect surrounding supplies for the camp. Alia stays in the shelter, feeling bitter about having already possibly lost her closest ally. Chelsie and Carlson talk by the fire.
- I seriously just cant believe you're branded a nerd... it's like weird.- Chelsie
- Yeah, I guess it is...- Carlson
- I literally just want to take you home to my family! You're so sweet.- Chelsie
|“||I truthfully do like Carlson. I think he's nice and sweet, he is attractive. But I'm not infatuated with him... if anything I feel embarrassed by saying this stuff to him because I cant naturally fake it that well. Maybe I'll get better, who knows. I know that he and Alia have something going on because they talked loads early on, and now that I'm with him more she looks pissed. Maybe she fancies him I don't know... But she has to learn to share (laughs)||”|
|“||Chelsie is... odd. I know she thinks that she's this beautiful girl, which she is... But it isn't going to fool me into working FOR her. Yes I'll word with her but at the end of the day a girl isn't going to entrap me out here. I can tell she's new to this 'acting' thing because her comments to me are just so funny. They're borderline creepy, but overall amusing. I think Alia has taken this badly because of the looks I'm getting from her, so it seem sonly wise to reassure her that she's still my number one... but that Chelsie will be joining our alliance.||”|
Carlson walks over to Alia, asking if she'd like to take a walk, which she quickly accepts. They walk over to the riverbed, staying clear from Cindra, who is fishing, hoping that she wont overhear them.
- What's up?- Alia
- Listen I know you're mad.- Carlson
- I'm not mad...- Alia
- Ali... C'mon... Those looks could kill. I just want to let you know that Chelsie is with us...- Carlson
- (laughs and shakes her head)- Alia
- Ali please! You're still my number one don't be mad! Like, we're in this together... We just need more people to help.- Carlson
- Then why not Cindra or Rose? They're pretty willing to help.- Alia
- Do you really want a weak alliance? Like really?- Carlson
- Well to me it seems Chelsie is for your benefit, not mine. Anyway I'm done. If you want her then fine, but don't blame me if it all goes wrong.- Alia
|“||I don't know why Alia is getting so mad about this. It's poor gameplay on her part if she wants the weaklings together as opposed to a young physically fit girl. Maybe its jealousy between girls, I don't know.||”|
Reniero and Neil continue their walk, discuss their tribe mates and their thoughts, while staying clear of "strategic talk".
- Rose isn't looking so good.- Reniero
- No, no she isn't. She's the weakest member sadly.- Neil
- Yeah, I mean I'm worried about all of our tribe now. Weak members and people trying to play this strategically.- Reniero
- Wait, what?- Neil
- I have a feeling that some of the others might be trying to get something going.- Reniero
- Well lets hope they're not. Keep an eye out and let me know if they're playing this thing dirty?- Neil
- Sure thing...- Reniero
|“||I do love stirring the pot with Neil because he's just so easy to get mad. Something tells me not to trust Carlson in this game. He reminds me a bit of the young guy last series who just screwed with everyone. We cant have someone like that last because they really cost people the game. The people on this tribe who I'd want to keep around would be Neil, Cindra, Alia ... I would say Rose but she's totally out of it now. As for Carlson and Chelsie, they're a big problem for me.||”|
|“||Reniero tells me that people are trying to get strategy going again. They didn't learn from Mitchell's elimination, so shame on them. Over the next day I'll keep my eyes on them all and if I hear something I don't like, I have to abort my plan to vote Rose, and aim it at whoever the culprit is.||”|
The Ogakor tribe spend day five relaxing, having very little camp work to do. Georgia takes much liking to the tribes new attitude, feeling as though they are taking a break "they all deserve". Clairty, Georgia, Farrell and Ned spend time relaxing around the camp, while Curt complains about the new nonchalant attitudes.
|“||Just because we have little work to do, doesn't mean we do nothing. It's quite infuriating to be stuck out here with people so unintelligent that a couple of backwards people could be doing a better job than them.||”|
- What's wrong with Curt...?- Ned
- He's just being himself.- Farrell
- Why does he always go off on one about everything? He needs to learn to cool it down.- Ned
- He will... just give him time.- Clarity
|“||I know a lot of people label Curt a chauvinist or sexist. But in general I see him as a good useful guy. He is good around camp, good in challenges... He cant be this massive ass that they say he is because he likes me! He aligned with me! Ned and Farrell need to see this too because Curt is a good solid member of our tribe who wont turn his back on us. I'd be more concerned about Farrell in all honesty, I mean the guy has admitted to liking Laurencia more then most others.||”|
Down by the riverbed, Johna, Laurencia and Victor are preparing to bathe themselves. Johna talks about her hair, stating that its got a mind of its own, and how she's worried it'll have to be shaved when she returns home.
- I swear this thing needs a good wash. It's flying all over the place.- Johna
- My hair is so dry at the moment too, if we win some shampoo at the next reward I'll be the first to grab it (laughs)- Victor
- Fortunately my hair is s**t anyway so out here it's looking in its element... (laughs)- Laurencia
- (laughs)- Johna & Victor
|“||Myself and Victor have the most fabulous hair on our tribe. Victor has beautiful jet black hair, its really quite long. When he arrived it was soft and smelt nice, but now he's wishing it was short because longer hair is proving harder to keep. I can sympathies with this because my hair... which is the ebony sister... is going all over the place and not staying still. So we got to the water today and washed our hair, it wasn't like home but we're looking a little bit more fabulous today, which is always nice (laughs)||”|
|“||I bonded more with Laurencia and Johna today... over our hair... which was an odd thing because that's normally what girls do. Oh well, anything to make friends (laughs). I'd say on the tribe the two of them really are my rocks, because they're the only two who really give me the time of day. It doesn't shock me that the macho guys don't want to be my friend, they never have done and never will do. But who wants them when you can have a the two mums haha.||”|
The tribe continue their light hearted day, with Curt avoiding most of his tribe members out of anger. Clarity continues to defend Curt from comments made by others, particularly getting annoyed with Laurencia and Johna over their dislike for Curt, which Clarity views as "unjustified".
Both tribes prepare for the immunity challenge, which they understand will involve eating certain foods found in the Australian Outback.
|“||Being Indian, eating unusual things isn't really scaring for me. Of course I forget how integrated I am to American culture that even spicy food upsets me now... So really I'm quite nervous for this challenge.||”|
|“||I asked the Lord for food, and he provided. It's just I had nice food in mind, not... whatever the hell we're gonna get today.||”|
Challenge: Tucker'd Out
On a spinning wheel are various aboriginal delicacies, such as mangrove worms, crickets, grubs, and cow brains. Each Survivor must square off against someone from the opposing tribe, spin the wheel, and eat the item that's pointed at. If a Survivor refuses to eat, or if he or she throws up, that tribe falls behind one point. The tribe that successfully eats the most tucker, wins.
Kucha return to camp having just lost their third consecutive challenge. Neil angrily throws the tribe flag to the ground, before retiring to the shelter with Rose. Reniero profusely apologizes for his challenge performance, stating he couldn't keep the food down. Alia tells him not to worry about it, as he's a valuable asset to the tribe. Reniero and Cindra tend to the fire, allowing Cindra to hint to Reniero who they should vote, having misunderstood Alia's plan to oust Chelsie.
- Carlson tonight?- Cindra
- Carlson?!- Reniero
- Yep....- Cindra
- Who else will vote him?- Reniero
- Alia, myself and Rose... we talked about it earlier.- Cindra
- Ok, I'm with you on it.- Reniero
- Ok, but don't tell anyone else, we keep it between us.- Cindra
|“||I'm so happy right now. I was slightly worried after my poor performance today. Thankfully Cindra, Alia and Rose talked up a plan about getting rid of Carlson, which is perfect for me because I really want him out. I would approach Neil with this but, I feel it could backfire as he'd accuse us of being an alliance, which could blow everything up. So I'll leave Neil in the dark for now... It's where he wants to be.||”|
Cindra quickly approaches Alia, asking if they should go forward with what they discussed. Alia assumes Cindra is talking about Chelsie, and gives a small nod to assure her the plan will go through.
|“||I feel so strategic right now... Alia's plan to oust Carlson will come into play tonight and we'll have Neil all confused! He'll be all mad we broke his "no strategy allowed" plan.||”|
Back in the shelter, Rose takes the opportunity to talk with Neil, hoping to save herself from elimination. Rose lets Neil know about Chelsie trying to form an alliance with Carlson, stating that Alia and Cindra agree because of this Chelsie should go home. Neil becomes annoyed, but tells Rose that he heard from Reniero there was alliance talk, believing it now to have been Chelsie he was talking about.
|“||Tonight, all I can hope is things continue to be messy and somehow I survive.||”|
|“||Several people in the tribe have informed me about Chelsie being the new Mitchell. Now all she's doing is harming the tribe as a whole so it could make sense to write her name down tonight. Then again Rose is so weak and has caused the tribe not one, but two losses. It's a tough call... I think I know how I'll vote... For the greater good.||”|
Carlson, Chelsie and Alia sit together and discuss the vote, hoping Neil wont spot them. Chelsie quickly throws out Rose's name, which Carlson agrees on, stating that Rose has caused the tribe to lose each challenge, and that if she stays they will continue to decrease in numbers. Alia remains generally quiet throughout the conversation, but lets Carlson and Chelsie know she's with them.
|“||Tonight we'll be voting for Rose. It makes the most sense, and I feel overall the other three members outside our alliance aren't too dangerous so we don't have to worry about keeping them. I hope Alia is over her bitterness towards Chelsie because if she isn't she could really screw up my game.||”|
Alia spends the rest of her time walking between individuals, finding out their plans, allowing her to have several options when it comes to tribal council.
|“||I feel I'm in a powerful position right now, which is good considering how wishy-washy I'm feeling. Carlson and Chelsie want me to vote Rose, who is weak but loyal to me. Rose and Cindra both informed me that they want to go forward with my plan, which is to vote Chelsie. I think Neil is voting Rose, but I'm not entirely sure. Reniero is throwing his vote God knows where... But Cindra informed me "he's in"... Whether or not this means he truly is voting Chelsie I don't know. This would mean it's a 3-3 split tonight, with my vote being the decider. I can make myself feel safe by taking out Chelsie, annoying my original alliance and exposing myself as a snake. Or, I can take out someone loyal to me, but someone that is overall a burden on the group. It's a tough decision tonight, and one that I hope I make the right call on.||”|
At tribal council Kucha discuss their three losses, with Neil shifting the blame onto Rose, which she partly accepts. Rose however attempts to defend herself by stating that the strategic players are more of a danger then she is, which Cindra agrees to. Rose then brings up Chelsie and Carlson's close relationship, stating that many in the tribe see it as dangerous. Chelsie attempts to defend herself, claiming that she is simply forming a friendship, no different to the ones they have all formed. The tribe, with little else to say, all hoping to keep plans quiet, begin the vote. Alia stands with the pen in hand for several moments, before reluctantly writing down a name. As the vote comes in, every single tribe member is shocked to see a 2-2-2 split occur, with Chelsie, Rose and Carlson all receiving votes. As the last vote is revealed, it is Rose who is ousted from the game, with Alia deciding that Rose's weakness was too much for the tribe, although she still remains shocked to see Carlson receiving votes. Rose leaves with a smile on her face, accepting her elimination as bittersweet.
Rose (3 votes)
Alia, Carlson & Chelsie
Carlson (2 votes)
Cindra & Reniero
Chelsie (2 votes)
Neil & Rose
|“||Sorry sweetie. I love you like a sister and you're one of the greatest friends out here. Sadly because of your illness I have to write your name down tonight... I'm sorry.||”|
|“||Rose, you're the weakest one here...||”|
|“||You tried your best, but it wasn't enough.||”|
|“||I know you'll be shocked by this, hopefully you can forgive us.||”|
|“||Please try and learn lessons quicker in life...||”|
|“||Shocked I'm writing you off so early, but I guess it's how the game played out.||”|
|“||Hopefully I'm given a third chance tonight, and it's you going... not me...||”|
|“||This isn't a shocking outcome for me. I knew I was on thin ice from the beginning because of my illness, but I'm glad to have come here. I wish Alia and Cindra the best of luck, I'm glad to have met them both. Everyone else in the tribe I wish luck too, and hope they can find what they're looking for without me. Next time you see me, I'll be my pale old self... (laughs)||”|
Still In The Running
