Boys vs Girls is the season premiere of Survivor: The Amazon.

Story

Day 1

“	We are making our way up river along the Rio Negro in northern Brazil, where the temperature is a scorching one hundred and three degrees, and these sixteen Americans are set to begin the adventure of a lifetime. They are about to be abandoned in the largest and most magnificent tropical rainforest in the world; the Amazon. Spanning two and a half million miles, the Amazon is responsible for fifteen percent of the worlds oxygen and is the worlds largest fresh water source. For much of the season the Amazon is a flooded forest; a land covered with up to sixty feet of water, but as the dry season emerges, the river subsides, revealing the dangers that lurk beneath; caiman crocodiles, schools of piranha, and the worlds most feared snake; the anaconda. Soon torrential thunderstorms will arrive, rocking this jungle and submerging the forest once again. This will be their home for the next thirty-nine days. It is the ultimate challenge; sixteen strangers all from different walks of life left to fend for themselves, utilising the resources of the land and their own survival skills. Forced to work together to create a new society, while battling the elements and each other. They must learn to adapt or they'll be voted from the tribe. In the end, only one will remain to claim the million dollar prize. Thirty nine days, sixteen people, one Survivor!	”

The sixteen contestants sit aboard an Amazon riverboat, with two smaller paddle boats situated off to the side. Jeff lowers a rope ladder off the side of the boat, informing the group that they will now be separated into two tribes.

As I call out your name, I want you to climb down the rope ladder and get in the yellow boat. Jayla... Jenn... Subira... Neasa... Delma...- Jeff Probst

Wow...- Jody

“	The second Jeff called out a fifth female I knew that it was a certainty that this would be an all female tribe. It took us all by surprise, and definitely mixed emotions on my part.	”
–Neasa

Edweena... Karyn... Veronica. Once you guys are on board you can introduce yourselves and celebrate your fellow members.- Jeff Probst

Celebrate... (scoffs)- Isaiah

The women seem excited in greeting one another, trying to present the division by sex as a positively received change for the start of the game.

“	I'm extremely pleased to be on this all women's tribe right now. There's no more worries about people flirting with boys around camp, and no more of the 'lets vote off the women first' trash that we've seen in previous seasons. We have an opportunity here to show these men and those at home watching just how strong us girls are.	”

Men, as I call out your name, climb down the rope ladder and get in the blue boat. Ceri... Mayson... Fredrick... Sheamus...- Jeff Probst

(laughing) We're stacked...- Hall

“	I'm not a male chauvinist, women hater or any of that crap. But you know, when Jeff told us that it was to be a tribe of men and a tribe of women, I think each of us chaps took a deep sigh of relief. It's only logical to see us as the favourites physically, mentally... I don't know how the women will survive out here.	”
–Sheamus

Kennedy... Hall... Jody... and Isaiah, finish it out.- Jeff Probst

Mmmmm mmmm... (hugs his tribe mates)- Isaiah

Isaiah already feeling confident with his group.- Jeff Probst

Yes sir.- Isaiah

“	All eight of us guys are sat in this boat, and I'm seeing brawn, I'm seeing the nerdy brainy types... a real mix of skill needed to get through this game. Then I look at the women and there's stick thin anorexic looking fragile girls, and a couple of geriatrics (laughs). I don't think any of us guys will be seeing tribal council until the merge.	”

“	It frustrates me to see how cocky the men already are. Standing and puffing out there chests like this, and raising their jaws as if they're so insecure that they've got to try and do anything they can to remind us that they're these big strong men! It's pathetic. As a proud woman and feminist, I am not in the least bit worried that my tribe is in any way disadvantaged going into this game.	”

Jeff hushes the two groups, proceeding to tell them a brief history of the Amazon. He informs the tribes that the Amazon was discovered in 1541 by Spanish explorers, and that these explorers came across a fierce tribe solely consisting of women; hence the term "Amazon women" and the naming of the rainforest. It is for this reason that both tribes have been split by sex, with the women being named "Jaburu" after the bird, and the men "Tambaqui" after the fish. Both tribes are then provided with a map, and instructed to go off in opposite directions in order to find their respective camps. The women quickly untie their boat and head off, whilst Kennedy causes a stir in the men's boat, stumbling as he goes to untie their rope.

“	Straight out of the gate my combination of excitement and nerves just got the better of me, and I stupidly tripped as I walked forward to untie our rope. The guys gave a small laugh, and I think it was just the awkwardness of it all that got to me. I don't want to start off making the wrong impression, especially this early on.	”

Jaburu

The women paddle their boat down river towards their camp, talking amongst themselves as they do so, hoping to use the journey to get to know one another.

“	I am still pretty upset that this is an all female thing right now. A lot of my assets... are more favourable towards men. I don't know how far flirting and a tight swimsuit is going to get me around these girls.	”

So what do you do Veronica?- Edweena

I am a retired teacher... probably the oldest one out here.- Veronica

If life has taught me anything its that age is just a number! You're just as young as your surgeon makes you where I'm from (laughs)- Edweena

Lets get some more introductions... what was your name again sweetie?- Veronica

I'm Subira... I'm uh twenty-six... and I'm a track and field athlete.- Subira

Amazing! We're already beating these guys in any races!- Jayla

“	Eventually after our introductions and paddling for what felt like maybe forty minutes or so, we see the yellow flag in the distance. I almost wanted some angels to pop out and sing a heavenly song, because just finding our camp we've over performed against the men's expectations.	”

The women pull their boat up against the river bank, slowly exiting their boat so that they can walk into their camp area. The tribe begin searching through their limited supplies, each taking hold of a machete and setting out a plan for how they should go about building their camp.

“	So far what we're seeing is nothing like anything before on Survivor. Not just in terms of this being an all female tribe, but our surroundings are so unique and unlike the typical beach or fenced in area that we've seen before. We're really in a claustrophobic environment here, completely at the mercy of mother nature. I just hope that when it comes down to it that she looks more favourably on her female compadres.	”
–Delma

At this stage we've only got a few hours of daylight left, and with these trees shading us it'll get dark before the sun is completely down. I'd suggest we get moving now on shelter AND fire... but what does everyone feel is more of a priority?- Veronica

I don't want to be in complete darkness, so I'd say fire is what's really important right now.- Neasa

I agree... when it's dark we won't be able to see what we're doing with sticks, so it's best we start it now.- Jenn

Personally, I don't want to sleep on the floor with spiders, ants and what not all biting me, and especially for my back.- Veronica

Why don't we just split it and have five of us start on shelter, and three start on the fire?- Karyn

That sounds best...- Delma

“	I'm getting a bossy vibe off Veronica. I get that she's the old one out here, and her needs are going to be different to the rest of ours. But, it just feels that she asks questions with an answer already set in her mind.	”
–Jenn

“	A lot of these young girls are going to be difficult to live with, and I know it because I was one many, many years ago. Young girls think they know it all, and they don't. I'm just going to have to make sure I don't come off too condescending because I do sometimes slip into both elder and teacher mode... and out here that won't win me any friends.	”
–Veronica

The group splits up in order to focus on the two tasks at hand. Delma, Edweena and Jayla work on the fire, spending an hour or so rubbing sticks together without much progress. Eventually Jayla suggests that if the group is unable to get the fire going, that instead they should attempt to just light the lanterns they were provided with.

“	The three of us... Edweena, Jayla and myself... had sat there for God knows how long, trying to get this very dry and dusty pile of sticks to catch alight. Jayla then innocently but brilliantly suggested using the lanterns, which reminded us all that inside each lantern there was some kerosene... so we poured the kerosene onto the small pile we had made, used the machete to get a spark and within seconds we had the most beautiful roaring fire for our camp.	”

The girls rush the burning sticks into a larger pile, having successfully got a fire going for the tribe thanks to the use of the kerosene within the lantern. The other five women congratulate them, allowing the group to continue working on the shelter whilst they alternate on who will watch over the fire.

“	It felt great to have got fire on our first day, even if it was done because of a clumsy suggestion by myself (laughs). I had my reservations when Jeff told us it would be girls against boys, but right now I've got a good feeling that this group of women are going to be pretty tough to beat... the boys better watch out.	”

Later on in the evening, the girls sit around their fire with their shelter only half complete behind them. Jenn, Karyn, Neasa and Subira talk excessively in order to get to know one another, often laughing as they discuss both the boys tribe and their feelings coming into the game. Jayla sits silently to the side, whilst the three older women appear to be trying to sleep, wanting to get rest on their first night of the game. Veronica sits up and tells the girls to lower their voices, and preferably to head to sleep, stating that they will all need their energy for the following day in order to complete their tribe shelter.

“	A few of us girls were sat up and trying to just forget about the fact we're in a dark and dangerous jungle, without much shelter, sharing the floor with the most disgusting set of creatures on the planet... and you know, just really enjoy our first night out here whilst it's all fresh and new. But of course some of the older women wanted to sleep early, even though none of them could really sleep much anyway because the shelter isn't the comfiest of settings. Veronica pretty much told us to be quiet in what she saw as a respectable manner, but it was just another instance of certain people in this tribe thinking their needs outweigh that of everyone else. If Veronica wants to build the shelter, we build the shelter... if Veronica wants to sleep, everyone has to sleep. It's only day one but I can see this getting tiresome pretty fast out here. My patience is already wearing thin.	”

Tambaqui

The men row their boat towards their tribe flag, having bonded similarly to the women along the way, discussing their feelings on the first ever tribes split by gender.

“	I can get along with guys easily. That isn't an issue for me. But apart of me did look forward to having some girls around camp, not just for some eye candy but because girls just seem to love me... especially older women. They just see my baby face and blue eyes, and immediately feel they've got to take care of me. I could use that in this game, because you need people watching your back for when others are trying to stick the knife in.	”

After pulling up the the bank by the flag, the boys exit the boat and head towards their crate of supplies. The men all start trying to pry open the crate, somewhat struggling much to their amusement.

“	We get off our boat, and see this crate sat up here in the middle of the Amazon. I looked at the size of this thing and thought 'huh'?! This is everything we've got for thirty-nine days? Because that's how long I plan to be staying... thirty-nine days... not three or four... not thirty-seven, thirty-eight... the full thirty-nine days! And you want me to live off what looks like a dwarfs coffin?!	”
–Isaiah

Come on boys, use those muscles...- Jody

(struggling) We need some of you guys' brains for this one! (laughs)- Hall

Don't look at me, you already saw I nearly tipped us all out when I tried to undo a knot... (laughs)- Kennedy

Eventually Ceri helps remove the nails from the crate, allowing the boys to get it open and retrieve their supplies from inside. Sheamus passes round machetes for the tribe, quickly helping the group come to a consensus that both fire and shelter are a necessity.

We don't need too many people making fire, just one or two. Keep a bulk of our force working on the shelter...- Sheamus

Anyone want to do fire?- Fredrick

Is that what you'd rather work on?- Sheamus

No, I mean... I don't mind. I'm just saying if no one wants to do it then I'm happy to.- Fredrick

Kennedy, would you mind doing it with him?- Sheamus

No, I'm fine with that.- Kennedy

“	It doesn't surprise me that myself and Fredrick were asked to do the fire. You've got this tribe of beautiful people with their bulging muscles, and then you've got myself and Fredrick... clearly guys who picked gaming over gyms. I didn't want to complain about the role because it gives me an opportunity to work on any first impressions this group may have already formed of me.	”
–Kennedy

The men get to work on the shelter, making quick work of the rainforest around them, creating a large pile of needed supplies next to Fredrick and Kennedy, who are working hard to get the fire going.

“	Things got rolling really fast, but that's just how men get things done. I think Sheamus kind of stepped up as a leader early on, which was a little surprising because he's quite a young guy, but I'll let him stick with it for now. He seems to be doing a good job of motivating everyone and keeping them all on track.	”
–Mayson

Sheamus, Mayson, Ceri and Hall band together and start constructing the shelter, talking amongst themselves as they do so. After getting to know one another, it becomes apparent that Hall's voice is the loudest in the group, often talking over everyone in order to make elaborate or crude jokes.

Sheamus... I gotta say... I'm straight bro, but you're a sexy guy. I mean those girls over there are probably getting absolutely up tight just thinkin' about you bro. (laughs)- Hall

Well, you're not so bad yourself...- Sheamus

We're all thinkin' it though man. Ceri... Ceri... if you were gay, don't lie to me... you would want a piece of Sheamus... (laughs)- Hall

“	(sighs) Hall is... he's a bit of a jackass. He's not a nasty guy or anything, at least not based off this first impression. But he just seems to never shut up. Straight through building the shelter he would talk about sex, the women, make jokes... tell us every party story from his youth which he seems to have mentally been unable to slip out of. He's the kind of guy you wouldn't want to live next to, and I'm stuck on a tribe with him... in the Amazon rainforest.	”
–Ceri

They give us sun cream here right?- Hall

Yeah...- Mayson

Good man because I was gonna say you need to slap a bunch on that bald head of yours... (laughs)- Hall

“	Everyone back home knows I'm a larger than life kind of guy. I scream, I shout... I'll take your mother out... buy her dinner... tell you about it after. I'm a mess man. But a lovable one! I think my tribe will see me as the joker, and they'll want to keep me around because of how bored they'd be without me here.	”
–Hall

Elsewhere in the forest, Isaiah and Jody stay together to collect the last needed supplies for the shelter. The two seem to bond well, laughing as they discuss their nerves for the game, but their excitement in being able to represent men in a battle of the sexes.

I gotta say though man, I thought you was the other guy for a second. It was only when you put the hat back on I realised it was you.- Isaiah

What other guy?- Jody

Uh, what's his name man... Cherry?- Isaiah

Oh, Ceri?- Jody

Ceri, yeah man... him. I swear man you two like twins or something (laughs)- Isaiah

(laughs) It must be the young faces...- Jody

I don't want wanna be that guy who starts thinking all white people look the same... help me Lord, I'm already losing my mind out here (laughs).- Isaiah

“	In this early stage I'm liking my tribe, everyone seems to be pretty relaxed. I've had good conversations with a few people... Ceri... Isaiah... Sheamus is a great guy to take control... Mayson and Hall are both huge physical assets, and I think Fred and Kennedy will be pretty useful in puzzles. We seem to have the makings of the strongest tribe yet in Survivor.	”
–Jody

As the sun begins to set on the camp, Fredrick and Kennedy have failed to make fire, much to their own personal disappointment. Sheamus and Isaiah step up to help, joining Fredrick in trying to get a spark going. After several minutes, Sheamus successfully creates a spark, getting fire for his tribe.

Oh my gosh... this guy is like G.I. Joe or something. What can't you do?- Hall

Sheamus, you are my saviour for tonight...- Mayson

Kennedy seems somewhat disheartened, feeling once again he has failed to prove himself to his tribe. Nevertheless, the group all sit around the fire and begin boiling water, bonding as a unit before eventually heading into their near complete shelter for their first night in the Amazon.

“	I'm really proud of everyone in this tribe. I think everyone has pulled their weight, and made sure that we've had the best start we possibly could've in this game. How things have turned out is that a few people are looking towards me as a leader. It's not an ideal position, but I'll take it for now if it helps us moving forward in this game. Right now I'm looking out for the good of the tribe rather than myself, I just hope that it doesn't come back to bite me.	”

Jaburu

In the early afternoon of the second day, the women continue working around camp in order to get their shelter finished. The younger trio of Jenn, Neasa and Subira go off in the tribes boat in order to try and catch some fish for the group.

“	This morning as a tribe we all got up, and even without much sleep made sure we got to work on our shelter, and hopefully by the end of today it'll be complete. But we also badly need something to eat, because none of us are feeling too hot on the manioc flour on its own. Myself, Jenn and Neasa got the boat out there and we got ourselves paddling, because there's gonna be found in the Amazon.	”
–Subira

How do we like... catch something?- Jenn

Patience, I guess.- Subira

Something severely lacking in some of these women... (laughs)- Neasa

Oh gosh, last night was just... (rolls her eyes)- Jenn

I don't get who they was telling to be quiet, when none of us was sleeping that early anyway.- Subira

It's an age thing... it was bound to happen when you have a group of older women, and then the three of us.- Neasa

(laughs) I love the way you say that... "tree of us"...- Jenn

(laughing) Don't mock the way I speak!- Neasa

Oh no, I think the accent is hot! It'll be another asset that gets the older gals jealous of you.- Jenn

“	Is Irish charm a real thing? Ask that again when I win the million dollars. I'm all for being a humble person, but when you know you've got something I think you've got to utilise it. I know men like me... heck, I know women like me. The figure, the face, the accent... my red hair... (laughs). I'm a dangerous combination I suppose in a game like this. Of course I understand these things will alienate some people from me, but it's only dangerous for as long as I'm on this women's only tribe. Get some men over here and I'll have them eating out of my hand.	”
–Neasa

Back at camp, a problem emerges as Karyn spends little time working, instead sitting slouched over by the almost complete shelter. Veronica comes over to comfort her, rubbing her back as she checks on her tribe members condition.

You're not feeling good hun?- Veronica

Nuh-uh...- Karyn

What is it? Your head?- Veronica

My head... my throat... everything. I just don't know why I said I'd do this... I don't think it's for me.- Karyn

Oh now, don't be silly. C'mon... we're all going to feel like this, and that's okay. We've just got to make sure we can pull through and support one another when we each get to this point.- Veronica

“	This morning whilst we were finishing up the shelter, we noticed that Karyn was feeling a little down both in spirit and energy. We recommended that she took a break, and for a good hour or so she just sat keeled over, and being both a mother and a teacher I jumped right into this protective mode, and saw someone who needed assistance. It is a worrying sign to have someone be this way just twenty-four hours into the game, so if I can do anything to get her back on form then I'll try it.	”
–Veronica

Delma, Jayla and Edweena return to the shelter with the last of the cut down supplies, placing them in a pile before heading over to the duo to see how Karyn is feeling. Karyn lets the group know that she feels she wont last in the game, requesting that if they lose the immunity challenge that she is voted out of the game, much to the surprise of her tribe mates.

“	When Karyn asked us to vote her out, I really just wanted to walk off at that point. It's day two, and we've not even finished building our camp, and you're sat here asking to leave as if we've already lost a challenge. It's frustrating! Not just for me as her tribe member, but as a fan of this game who knows that there are thousands of people who would've done anything to take her place!	”
–Delma

Well, we hope you get better soon...- Jayla

Absolutely...- Delma

I don't think I will guys...- Karyn

Well, why don't you wait until the shelter is finished, we'll boil up some water and hopefully the other girls will get us back some food. Then see how you're doing in the morning. Okay?- Veronica

Yeah...- Karyn

“	Today my throat is pretty raw, and I just feel this mixture of exhaustion and illness, and a complete contempt for being out here. I served in the armed fores, and I've been in some pretty brutal environments, but I've done those things for a greater purpose. I do feel I rushed into coming out here, and didn't consider truly how my body and mind would cope...	”
–Karyn

Jenn, Neasa and Subira return to camp some time later, with several small bait-sized fish in hand. The group seem grateful for their efforts, with the exception of Karyn, who remains somewhat motionless on the floor. The three younger women question Karyn on her condition, to which she tells them that she still feels unwell, and doesn't expect to last too much longer in the game. Some time later, the group fry up their small bait-sized fish along with some of the manioc flour, having their first meal of the game. Despite not eating much, the women seem grateful to have started on a semi-positive note, giving them hope for the upcoming challenges against the men's tribe.

“	Our first full day as a tribe was actually pretty cool. Everyone seems to be getting along to some degree, and the cracks that I thought might be forming seem to have mended themselves for now. Back home I don't really get to have adventures like this, so for me to be our here eating fish and cutting down trees and building fires... it's a whole new experience for me, and I'm loving every second. I think our only concern right now is Karyn, but we hope that now our shelter is pretty much finished that she'll sleep better tonight, and tomorrow morning there'll be something else coming out of her mouth other than "vote me out".	”

Tambaqui

The Tambaqui tribe spend the day in a more relaxed manner than their counterparts, sending half their members off to search for food, whilst the others relax back at the now complete shelter. Sheamus and Ceri stand in the shallow waters by the bank of the river, trying to gain a greater understanding of the water around them in order to identify a source of protein.

You really think this will help?- Ceri

If it doesn't then we've only wasted a bit of time, right?- Sheamus

Yeah, I just don't want to... be dragged under by something.- Ceri

“	This morning we wanted to concentrate on getting a source of protein, because as it stands we've not got much in our supplies, and if we don't eat soon we can't expect to really perform in the challenges. I took a few of the guys off to the river in order to look... I think both Kennedy and Fredrick felt somewhat on edge after not completing fire, so I thought it would maybe show them that no one is angry and they're still very much included in this tribe. But the two of them didn't really get as stuck into things as I'd have maybe hoped, and just left Ceri and myself to really do the hard grafting.	”
–Sheamus

Fredrick and Kennedy sit inside the boat, talking together as Sheamus and Ceri continue searching along the banks and the shallow waters for any source of protein. Sheamus calls out to the pair, asking them to take the boat out and to see if they can catch any fish.

“	Sheamus wanted myself and Kennedy to go out on the boat and try to fish on our own. I wanted to laugh because it seems like he picked the two most inept guys to take on possibly the biggest challenge. Yesterday we couldn't start a fire, today we can't catch fish. It just feels like we're the constant disappointments around here. I just worry the more we're associated together, the easier it'll be for the tribe to pick us out and say 'lets vote those two off first'.	”
–Fredrick

Fredrick and Kennedy try to use the fishing poles to catch the tribe a meal, using some of the bait collected by Sheamus and Ceri. Kennedy decides to ask Fredrick how he feels about their place in the tribe. The pair admit to feeling nervous about their current standing, speculating that the stronger men will stick together.

If Sheamus starts running things, I don't see a scenario where he doesn't try and pull in Hall, Mayson ... and I suppose Isaiah. Maybe even Ceri if they're tight.- Fredrick

I don't know... I mean yeah, I completely worry about this and I think if we do lose it'll be you or I. But we could potentially try and change our fate here.- Kennedy

How so?- Fredrick

If you and I can stick together, I think we could really play up this big guy group, and get Jody and Ceri on our side. I spoke a little to them earlier, and they both seem aware physically they'll be at the bottom should we go.- Kennedy

That's just four people...- Fredrick

Maybe it'll be enough. But if need be we could try for Isaiah? Or even just concentrate on getting Hall out because he wont shut up...- Kennedy

“	I am worried that Kennedy is trying hard this early to save us, almost as if he feels its a guarantee that the others are working together. He might know something that I don't. I think if this was high school I'd definitely pair up with Kennedy, and then hope that Ceri, Jody and Isaiah come with us to create a majority. It'll be the nerds and misfits teaming up to take on the jocks. But we need to keep this tribe strong, and right now Kennedy is one of the weaker players... if things are turning against him then I don't want to be associated with his team, because whoever is will likely be taken out.	”
–Fredrick

Back at the shelter, Hall and Mayson are laying down talking, with Isaiah sat next to them. Jody sits alone by the fire, ensuring that it doesn't go out. Hall and Mayson seem to be bonding well, discussing their similar interests and ideas.

“	Mayson is a cool guy. He and I are clicking really well, and I think I've found my first buddy of the game. Our tribe is pretty relaxed right now, and I don't think none of us plan on going to tribal anytime soon.	”
–Hall

Isaiah sits blankly staring in Jody's direction, clearly thinking something through over and over. Hall and Mayson make an attempt to get his attention to no avail, eventually giving up and returning to their own conversation.

“	Yesterday it crossed my mind that both Jody and uh, the other guy... Sherry... Ceri? I don't know. It crossed my mind that they look hella similar. I said this to Jody and he kinda reacted a little suspect. He gave me a little look like this... (squints eyes)... as if he knew I was onto something. Today I saw them talking and laughing before we all got on with our tasks, and I'm thinking this ain't right. This game is always full of new twists and turns, which we've already seen with the gender split. Now I'm thinking there must be another twist in this game... perhaps a pair of siblings? Hmmmm? I mean we got two people who look similar. On the other tribe they got two older chicks who looked kinda the same. Now I'm thinking we've got a situation where both tribes have a pair of siblings and they're working together.	”
–Isaiah

Isaiah stands and forcefully walks over to Jody, requesting that Jody follows him into the forest for "a talk". Jody appears confused, but hesitantly accepts, asking Hall and Mayson to watch the fire whilst he's gone. The pair head into the cover of the trees, with those back at camp unable to hear the topic of conversation.

You gotta tell me straight bro... be one-hundred with me right now.- Isaiah

Okay? About what?- Jody

“	I don't know what is up with Isaiah, but he's a little unhinged. He came out of nowhere today accusing me and Ceri of being brothers... which started out yesterday as an innocent comment between us, and it has now transpired into this witch hunt where he's sure of his version of the truth... even though it's completely crazy.	”

Jody and Isaiah end the conversation, with Isaiah remaining unconvinced. The pair return to camp, with Hall asking if they "had a nice chat", which Jody rolls his eyes at, both tired of the conversation and Hall's constant speaking at camp. Isaiah joins Hall and Mayson in the shelter, whilst Jody returns to the fire.

(whispering) He's hiding something...- Isaiah

Who? Jody?- Mayson

What?- Hall

He's not telling us the whole truth... and I don't trust him no more. Nuh-uh.- Isaiah

... Let the games begin, right? (laughs)- Hall

“	I gave Jody the chance to come clean and show me he's a trustworthy guy, but he just seemed to keep on with these shady responses. I can't trust someone like that in the game to have my back. For that reason he's gonna have to go soon.	”

The girls prepare to head to their first immunity challenge, making sure each one of them is motivated to win in order to stay away from the first tribal council.

Oh you ain't gotta tell me, I can see it now... they're going to run their mouths, tell us how great they are... then when they lose I'm gonna laugh.- Subira

“	Soon we're heading to our first immunity challenge, and this is going to really be the deciding factor in whether or not many of us think we've got a chance to beat the boys in this game. I believe in my heart we can do it, but I also know that physically the boys may have an advantage. Our tribe is also generally a lot older than the boys... myself, Delma and Eddie are not as uh, how shall I say... youthful... as some of these other players. But I think our mix of talents could be what propels us, and hopefully keeps us from sending someone home tonight.	”

“	I am worried that we could lose today, not because I think I could be the one going home. I think we all know at this point Karyn will be the first one out of our tribe. It's just that I don't want to hand the boys momentum, because once they have that they can keep us at tribal time and again, and as a member of the older group on this tribe I think my name will be thrown about should we keep losing.	”

The girls walk in unison to the boat, paddling out in order to reach the challenge area, knowing that should they lose one of them will be the first one voted out of the game.

“	I'm determined not to be the first one off, especially when we have an army veteran ready to throw in the towel. If we lose today then I'm going to have to get things sorted quickly, because gaining control of the votes is always an important step in securing your place in the tribe. But again, I hope any campaigning isn't needed tonight, and I can come back to camp and just continue making social bonds with those I want to work with later on down the line.	”

The boys get ready for the immunity challenge, feeling confident about their chances against the supposedly weaker female tribe.

“	We're about to head out now, and I'm feeling good. I don't think the women stand much of a chance. I'd hate to be proven wrong but... nah, they're done today.	”

Guys, I just want to say when we get there, even if you feel we're going to win can we please not be cocky? Keep the sportsmanship clean.- Sheamus

Agreed... just because we'll look like the fools if we do end up losing.- Ceri

“	At this stage I've not been involved in any alliance talks or decisions of what'll happen if we do lose. I'd like to think that's because none have taken place, but you never really know. I think the general consensus would be Kennedy or Fredrick for physical reasons... but personally the only person I'm struggling with is Hall, so if no group decision is made then that's how I'll be voting tonight.	”

The group head off to their boat, with some members looking confident, whilst others such as Kennedy appear nervous, seeing the challenge as their last chance to show their tribe that they are worthy of a place in the game.

“	This is a last chance for me... in my mind. I haven't shown the tribe my value yet, and I know Fred feels the same. He and I are going to stick together and hopefully stay around in this game for a while longer, but I think that'll only be a certainty if we win the challenge today. If we do lose I'll have to try my hardest to switch the vote on one of the jock guys... or else it'll be my torch going out.	”

Immunity Challenge

Challenge: Unchained
The tribe members were chained together and had to navigate through an obstacle course. After each station was completed, the tribes must gather a series of keys to unlock sections of a chain, which are blocking the finish line. One member of the tribe retrieved a flying fox which led to the key that unlocked the final gate for the rest of the tribe. First tribe to unlock all the sections of the chain and cross the finish line wins.
Winner: Jaburu
Information: Both tribes remain even for the early portion of the challenge, with the first puzzle proving to be what separates the two tribes. Kennedy takes lead of the puzzle for Tambaqui, giving a disastrous performance that sets the tribe back, whilst Veronica quickly leads the women through to get their set of keys. Upon reaching the balance beam, the women quickly make their way through, with only Karyn falling off, having to be led through by Subira. Due to Karyn's poor performance, the men catch up, with the pairs of Ceri & Jody and Isaiah & Fredrick quickly crossing the beam. However, Kennedy & Sheamus fall off, with Sheamus somewhat helping Kennedy across on their second attempt, whilst Hall & Mayson completely fall apart, costing their tribe an abundance of time. The women are able to make their way past the final puzzle, with Jenn going down the flying fox to retrieve their key to unlock the final gate, giving the women the win.

The eight men return to camp having just lost the first immunity challenge, with many of their egos now completely deflated. Hall publicly apologises to the tribe, claiming that although he doesn't accept all of the blame, he is willing to accept that his (and Mayson's) performance on the balance beam put the "final nail in the coffin".

“	Screwed up today on the balance beam, and I hold my hands up about it. I'm one of the many reasons we lost today when we shouldn't have. We'll come back from this though, because right now there's one person who consistently under-performed... and that's Kennedy. So sadly, the kid gotta go.	”
–Hall

During the apology, Kennedy leans over to Fredrick, telling him that they need to start "looking for votes". Kennedy then quietly asks Jody to accompany him to the river bank, with Ceri following the pair. Isaiah notices the trio walking off, and decides to take the opportunity to speak with those remaining by the camp.

“	I see slim shady himself Jody heading off with Kennedy and his brother, and I saw it as my chance to strike. They left us alone at camp and went off for their little private chats, and I've got to make sure that tonight one of them two brothers go home.	”

Absolutely...- Hall

Hell no! You guys wasting this first vote on Ken? You best be sure that's right because where I'm coming from we've got to get one of the brothers out...- Isaiah

Mmmhm. You ain't see they look similar? And I asked Jody about it twice, and both times he's given me a lie in response.- Isaiah

Sheamus and Fredrick put their things away in the shelter whilst the trio talk next to them. Isaiah brings the pair into the conversation, telling them of his beliefs that Jody and Ceri are related and part of a twist in the game. Everyone seems somewhat dumbfounded by Isaiah's claims, but Hall begins to humour them, feeling as though it is a good way to get the attention off himself and Mayson for their poor performances.

“	Isaiah thinks that Jody and Ceri are brothers. I uh, I really don't know what to make of it. I don't believe it, specifically because they're from different parts of the country. Isaiah seems very passionate about the idea though, and both Hall and Mayson seemed to be quickly buying into it. I'd personally rather vote for Kennedy tonight, but I don't want to seem like I'm dictating the vote. I already worry about being perceived as the leader here, so whatever plan a majority wants is what I'll go with tonight.	”
–Sheamus

I say we vote Jody or Ceri tonight and just be done with it...- Isaiah

Not Ken?- Hall

Listen, this is season six! This ain't about challenge strength no more. We've got to play this game hard from now! Or else we let them two stick around and they can pull off whatever. Are you two good on voting one of them?- Isaiah

Yeah, I think it'd be wiser to vote one off tonight.- Fredrick

But which one?- Hall

I think Jody. He's the more dangerous one. I seen how his eyes shift around.- Isaiah

“	Kennedy told me to stay at camp and campaign for votes, and in a sense that's what I've ended up doing. Of all the people I'm now 'working with' I've ended up with the macho team. Some of them initially wanted to write down Kennedy's name, but... perhaps selfishly... I backed Isaiah's plan to take out Jody first. If Kennedy goes I've lost someone who seems to want to have my back, and someone who is always going to be weaker than I am physically.	”
–Fredrick

Down by the river bank, Kennedy, Ceri and Jody discuss the upcoming vote. Kennedy tells them that he understands he is physically proving to be a liability, but that he feels they need to use the first vote to take out Hall or Mayson.

The two of them screwed up just as much as I did today, and there's a much better chance of them teaming up with Sheamus to control this tribe if I'm gone.- Kennedy

And then they can get a majority... I agree. I'd say vote Hall.- Jody

I am completely good with that. I feel bad but I can't stand the guy right now.- Ceri

He's just irritating...- Jody

We've got Fred with us for sure, and if we can pull in Isaiah then we're set.- Kennedy

It'll be tough but lets do this...- Jody

And hey, if it doesn't work it'll be me going so... you got nothing to lose (laughs)- Kennedy

“	The challenge didn't go as I had planned at all, and I've really just had the most horrible first three days to prove myself to Tambaqui. I know tonight I'll be getting votes, and there's a strong chance I'll be the first one gone. My only hope is that I can somehow get Isaiah on board with us to vote for Hall, and that'll give us five votes. If not then it'll be a tie... unless Ceri and Jody aren't with me either (laughs). Which would be just my luck at this point.	”
–Kennedy

Sometime later on, Jody takes Isaiah to one side at camp, asking him on his thoughts about the vote. Jody explains that he feels concerned that a majority alliance could be formed between Hall, Mayson and Sheamus, and that the other individuals should band together to vote out Hall from the game to prevent this.

“	Regardless of the awkwardness between myself and Isaiah yesterday, I thought that today we could come together and utilise our votes to strengthen our position in the tribe. I thought he'd behave rationally about it and things could somehow go straight forward...	”
–Jody

I'm gonna be straight with you right now...- Isaiah

Please do...- Jody

I'm voting you tonight.- Isaiah

... Right. Me? Why?- Jody

I just think you ain't been honest with nobody out here.- Isaiah

Oh for f**k sake... is this about the brother thing again?- Jody

Listen we ain't gotta talk about it. You had that chance yesterday... I'm just being straight with you now, you're going tonight. I got it on lock down already...- Isaiah

Isaiah gets up and walks away from Jody, leaving him bewildered as he tries to comprehend what has just taken place. As Isaiah returns to camp, he makes a comment to the rest of the group that "he (Jody) knows he's going". Kennedy asks Fredrick what Isaiah means, leading Fredrick to briefly explain that Isaiah is targeting Jody for elimination.

“	All of a sudden Isaiah comes bursting back into camp, and now I'm hearing that Jody is getting votes instead of me. I don't understand what has gone on, but I knew immediately our plan had to shift because Isaiah was clearly a no-go for our plan.	”
–Kennedy

Kennedy rushes Fredrick and himself over to where Jody is stood, quickly talking amongst themselves to catch-up on the state Isaiah is currently in. Fredrick explains that Isaiah would not vote anyone but Jody, and that their initial plan of getting five votes on Hall will not be possible.

So we've gotta switch it up.- Jody

What do we do?- Kennedy

Vote Isaiah... would you be down for that?- Jody

Of course!- Kennedy

Fred?- Jody

Uh, yeah but we need five.- Fredrick

We've got us three and Ceri... our best bet is to try for Sheamus. Tell him that Isaiah isn't going to keep peace in this camp.- Jody

“	Isaiah has thrown a huge wrench into our initial plan, and I'm now finding out that I'm nowhere near as safe as I thought I'd be at this first tribal council. Ceri, Fredrick and Kennedy still have my back, but we need a fifth person to turn this vote on Isaiah and end his ridiculous paranoia about me having a secret in this game.	”
–Jody

Jody manages to get Sheamus off on his own, with Ceri coming over to join them. The trio discuss the vote, and Sheamus admits that Isaiah has been campaigning to get Jody out of the game.

He thinks we're brothers...- Ceri

I know... (laughs)- Sheamus

It's actually ridiculous.- Jody

I'll be honest. I don't think anyone buys his idea. But Hall and Mayson are just happy to go along with whatever takes the attention off their beam fail.- Sheamus

Well looking at the challenge didn't I perform well? Haven't I worked hard at camp? Haven't I been honest and straight up and not caused any problems?- Jody

Yeah... absolutely.- Sheamus

So what reason is there to vote me? Please, I'm actually begging at this point... remove the trouble maker first before he has a chance to drag this tribe down. You seem like the kind of guy who wants this camp to be full of the right people... so vote the right person tonight. Please.- Jody

“	Jody's arguments definitely made sense long term. The last thing any of us want is someone causing trouble in camp, and at this stage Isaiah is coming off a little unstable. It does feel as though Fredrick and I are in the middle of two sides here, and we're going to have to pick which one takes control of this tribe. Somehow those that screwed up today have avoided getting any votes tonight... which doesn't seem all fair, but that's the nature of the game.	”
–Sheamus

“	I'm extremely nervous heading into this vote tonight, because I know my name is going to come up. I just pray that Sheamus doesn't think I'm too big of a threat, or that I'm playing too hard with my brother as Isaiah believes. Tribal will be interesting, because I think it'll give all of us an opportunity to lay out all our problems on the table and really expose who isn't telling the truth.	”

At tribal council, the group waste no time admitting that they were too cocky in their approach to the game, with Hall admitting he has been "humbled" by their defeat. After talking about the weakness in the challenge (particularly the performances of Hall, Mayson and Kennedy), Isaiah decides to bring up the "personal issues" going on at camp; namely between himself and Jody. Isaiah proceeds to talk about his theory, much to the tribes amusement. Jody seizes the opportunity to defend himself, with both him and Ceri slamming Isaiah for his "paranoia", asking anyone else in the group to speak up if they agree with Isaiah's theory. No one intervenes to defend Isaiah, leaving him frustrated that he is being "made out to be crazy". Isaiah promptly suggests that even if his theory is wrong, that it doesn't change the fact that Ceri, Jody and Kennedy went off to make plans right after the loss. Isaiah goes on to reveal Jody's initial pitch of voting for Hall, Mayson or Sheamus to prevent the trio from "taking control". Jody hesitantly admits that he initially had planned to vote Hall, but that he is firmly now of the belief that Isaiah causes too much trouble to be allowed to stay in the game. Hall is seen laughing along to this, amused that he was the initial target of several tribe mates. When asked what the vote will give the tribe, Fredrick answers "clarity", much to the agreement of his tribe mates. With everyone eager to get to the vote, Jody commences the voting, confidently writing down Isaiah's name. One by one each of the men follow, ready to see which of them will be the first ousted from the game. As Jeff brings back the urn, Isaiah sits up straight, confident that he has the backing of his tribe mates in getting rid of his short term rival.

Jody sighs in disappointment, having expected Isaiah to be leaving due to stirring up the drama around camp. Isaiah smiles and nods boldly, winking at Sheamus and Hall for siding with him on the crucial first vote. After his torch is snuffed, Jody turns to his tribe mates and tells them "good luck in dealing with him", before departing the tribal council area. The seven men grab their torches and return to camp, knowing that they will need to perform better as a unit and in challenges if they are to stand a chance in beating the women.

“	No one wants to be the first one out of this game. I can't lie, it hurts. I'm disappointed that my tribe opted to keep Isaiah over myself, because I don't see how it will benefit any of them in the long run. I wish Ceri and Kennedy luck, as I am pretty sure they're the only ones who stuck by my side. It'll be tough but I think they can find a way through the meatball group.	”
